SHOW ALERT: Finally We See ZEUS

Yeah. We know. After seeing 1.3 songs at St. Andrews (and some nice chattering)  and saying hello at NXNE (car being towed incident) we FINALLY get to experience an actual Zeus show.

Nobody will waste your time, these guys are here to stay. As the songs are marching through
your head, you will realize that this is how you feel and that's all.

CBC Music Searchlight shines on Windsor again

In 2009, our favourite venue in Windsor was voted Best Live Music Club in Canada by listeners of CBC Radio 3: the 60-person capacity Phog Lounge.

In 2011, N2DS2W was pretty proud to make the top 60 Searchlight list for Canada's Best Music Website.

In 2014, Searchlight has found Windsor again. Windsor's own singer-songwriter Crissi Cochrane has made the regional finals for Canada's Best New Artist, beating out hundreds of other artists. It's been great to watch her talent take flight from birds to blossom to the full bloom of her recent full-length release, Little Sway. Listen: "And Still We Move" from Little Sway.

Prior to 2012 winners were happy to get a trophy. Now, the winner gets to take home $20,000 worth of music equipment from Yamaha Canada Music. Voting continues at CBC Music. Good luck Crissi!

Show Alert: The Walkervilles stroll into Detroit

Fri., Apr. 11
Magic Stick Lounge ~ Detroit
With Jeremy Porter and the Tucos and Moon Walks
$14

Don't believe The Walkervilles' Facebook profile"The Walkervilles are a Motown/rock influenced group from the Detroit area." Okay, believe the Motown/rock influenced part, the key word being "influenced." They're not just emulating the sound. Despite the retro white waiter shirts and bowties in their press photos and a name that summons images of a barbershop quartet, they're using Motown R&B, rock and soul as a springboard into contemporary interpretation. We're looking forward to seeing just how far they've come since this 2012 show review. We know how far they're coming for their show at the Stick. Across the river, because this trio is from Windsor. Listen: "Bag It Up" by The Walkervilles.

Show Alert: Mac DeMarco

Thurs., Apr. 3
Magic Stick ~ Detroit
$12
With Amen Dunes and Juan Wauters

Don't come to this show if you're expecting some of Mac DeMarco's on-stage antics that have ranged from raunchy to unmentionable. We attended his show at the Blind Pig last June and didn't see a thing out of the ordinary. Don't avoid this show if you've read interviews with DeMarco and concluded he's a coarse asshole. Do come to this show if you want to hear DeMarco in his Salad Days: extraordinary alt pop that's fresh, distinct and personal. Listen: "Passing Out Pieces" from DeMarco's second full-length album, Salad Days.
